At GIGA4 we do our best to get your project ready, simply, as soon as possible.
So how long can a project take to develop? The net execution time of a project simply depends on two factors:
- The volume of the project. Depending on the amount of work the project requires, it will take more or less time.
- The workload at GIGA4. You can benefit from our experience in consulting and project development at a reasonable price thanks to the fact that we do not work for a single client. We usually have several projects in execution and this allows us to keep learning and optimizing resources, and in this case the primary resource is time. Thus it is possible that we cannot start immediately with a project and you have to wait a little bit.
As a metaphor, it is exactly the same as how a supermarket checkout works. The waiting time at the checkout depends on the number of people at the checkout at the time you decide to get in line and the volume of purchases you are carrying.
Additionally, in order to give you a delivery time or an overall execution time for your project we take into account:
- Internal organizational factors (organization of queues explained below, possible vacation periods, attendance and organization of congresses and internal training periods, quality reviews and improvement of internal processes).
- External factors (possible waiting time for client reviews, possible waiting time for receipt of resources from other professionals).
In GIGA4 we are always working so that your project is finished as soon as possible, if today is not Saturday or Sunday we may be working. That your project is finished as soon as possible, maintaining the quality levels, is undoubtedly what is most convenient for us and for you.
Queue organization #
Although we manage different types of projects with different management requirementsIt would not make sense that whoever wants a small change in a web site or a small consultancy has to wait for us to finish the complete development of a big project, that is why we internally manage 3 types of queues for the attention of the different types of work.
- Long-term projects: These are large projects, such as the complete development of a new website or a complex functionality within a website. Usually these projects have a lead time of between 1 and 3 months.
- Short-term tasks: These are small changes to a website, consulting tasks, change of functionality, etc. Usually these tasks have a lead time of 1 to 7 working days.
- Priority issues: In this queue we attend on a priority basis to any issue that clearly requires special attention in a short space of time. This can be viruses on web sites, server failures, any problem that requires a quick response, etc. Usually these tasks are handled within one business day.
In this way, all types of tasks we perform are attended to in a time frame that is comm ensurate with their volume and priority.
As a metaphor, this organization by queues is exactly the same as the fast queue that exists in some large supermarkets when you buy less than 10 items. It works with the same logic, it does not make sense that someone who is buying two things to eat at the moment has to wait for several people with the purchase of the month to go through the checkout, so a specific queue is established to serve you before.
Does this mean that, if there are any priority issues, my project will be delayed in the long term? Under normal conditions no, because both our weekly organization and the deadlines we give with the budgets already take into account these possible events, and if they do not happen, your project can simply be delivered earlier.
Communication of deadlines #
Because of all these variables, for long-term projects, we can communicate an approximate timeframe and reserve dates from the moment we have everything we need to get to work on the project, that is:
- We receive all the necessary resources.
- The project is budgeted or an alternative billing method is confirmed.
- We received or are about to receive, at least, a first payment from the project. When needed.
In the supermarket queue metaphor, we can estimate how long you are going to be in line the moment you get in line and we know both the volume of products you are going to buy and your position in the queue.
Frequently Asked Questions #
